I am an earth system scientist. I am fascinated with how Earth’s surface is affected by climate. My current research program centers around earth surface systems in three thematic areas:
i) Holocene glacier fluctuations:
Terminal moraine, northernmost British Columbia
Southernmost Andes, Patagonia
ii) Environmental reconstruction using proxies such as lake sediments:
Varved sediments in thin section
- Vibracoring, Lillooet Lake
Sediment trap, Duffey Lake
iii) recent and future changes to the cryosphere:
Eddy covariance experiment, Castle Creek Glacier
Mass balance work
All of these research themes are linked to climate. My short- and long-term objectives are to improve our understanding of how past and present climate affects geophysical systems such as glaciers, lakes, and drainage basins. I choose international journals with high impact factors in which to publish my results, but I also publish in regional and national journals. I substantially contribute to any manuscript of which I am an author. My recent contributions demonstrate my commitment to mentor scientists at all training levels. Many of my students have received awards for their research proposals and research presentations at national and international venues.
